Softball Game Preview: Sweet Springs Greyhounds vs. Kingsville Tigers

The Sweet Springs Greyhounds will venture away from home to take on the Kingsville Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sweet Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Kingsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Sweet Springs' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Santa Fe 10-0. Considering the Greyhounds have won six games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kingsville duked it out with Crest Ridge on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 21-3 to the Cougars. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kylie Stout was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gracie Hoover, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Sweet Springs is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Kingsville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Sweet Springs' way against Kingsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Sweet Springs made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
