Basketball Recap: Coral Shores Takes a Loss

Coral Shores lost against Ransom Everglades back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Coral Shores Hurricanes fell 56-43 to the Ransom Everglades Raiders.

When it comes to explaining why Coral Shores lost, don't look at Melanie Estevez. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points and seven boards. Estevez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. London Atkins was another key player, putting up two points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Coral Shores smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Ransom Everglades can attribute much of their success to Nica Rosenberg, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Luisa Duarte, who scored four points along with five assists and three steals.

Coral Shores' loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Ransom Everglades, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-10.

Coral Shores will challenge Keys Gate on Thursday. Keys Gate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. Ransom Everglades has already played their next match (against Calvary Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
