The Northwood Falcons will challenge the Loyola College Prep Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwood has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 6th.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Northwood and Calvin had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Northwood took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calvin on Tuesday.
Mackenzie Jagers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Loyola College Prep scored first but ultimately less than Doyline in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-6. The Flyers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Larkin Krieg put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Presley Walker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Savannah Mekelburg also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Loyola College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Northwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Loyola College Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Loyola College Prep, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Northwood's hitters?
