Basketball Game Preview: Marysville Getchell vs. Lynnwood Royals

Marysville Getchell hasn't had much luck against Lynnwood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Marysville Getchell will head out on the road to face off against the Lynnwood Royals at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Marysville Getchell is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They were dealt a 71-8 defeat at the hands of Snohomish. While losing is never fun, Marysville Getchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Snohomish is ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Lynnwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Cedar Park Christian 66-34.

Marysville Getchell will need focus on slowing down Nina Wilson, one of several Lynnwood players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 15 points. That was a full 44.1% of Lynnwood's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shifa Hanchinamani, who earned nine points.

Marysville Getchell's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Lynnwood, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-18.

Marysville Getchell was taken down by Lynnwood 78-19 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Marysville Getchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
