It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sylvan-Lucas can now relate to. They fell just short of the Smith Center Redmen by a score of 46-44 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 54-41 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smith Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leah Mckelvey, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Mckelvey now owns an excellent 42.3% three-point shooting accuracy. Ellie Pruden was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points.
Sylvan-Lucas' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-6-1. As for Smith Center, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.
