Preview: Lassiter Trojans vs. Pope Greyhounds

The Lassiter Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Pope Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lassiter entered their tilt with Blessed Trinity with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lassiter came out on top against Blessed Trinity by a score of 55-46 on Friday. Given Lassiter's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Blessed Trinity is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lassiter found their leader in underclassman Claire Mackenny, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kenzie Wyman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pope put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Johns Creek on the road to the tune of 69-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Pope has posted since December 12, 2023.

Lassiter has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Pope, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Lassiter beat Pope 47-39 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lassiter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
