Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Christian Royals vs. Pittsford Wildcats

Jackson Christian hasn't had much luck against Pittsford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jackson Christian Royals will host the Pittsford Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Jackson Christian sitting on three straight victories and Pittsford on 14.

Last Friday, Jackson Christian earned a 48-35 win over Waldron.

Jackson Christian can attribute much of their success to Rennie Huff, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three blocks, and Ella Boll, who posted eight points along with 15 rebounds and four blocks. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Huff has scored at least a third of Jackson Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Huff, who put up six points.

Jackson Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pittsford didn't have too much trouble with Hillsdale Academy on Thursday as they won 50-35. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Colts are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pittsford pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.1 points. As for Jackson Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Things could have been worse for Jackson Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-23 loss to Pittsford when the teams last played back in January.
