Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Comes Up Short

Murphysboro suffered their closest loss since May 16, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Mascoutah Indians by a score of 5-3.

Murphysboro saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Mileur, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Murphysboro has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Mascoutah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphysboro will square off against Massac County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mascoutah, they will face off against Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
