Recap: Silver Valley Trojans vs. Barstow Aztecs

The Silver Valley Trojans had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came out on top against Barstow by a score of 66-55. Given Silver Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Barstow is ranked 1108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Jaden Sassone, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for he. Another player making a difference was Stephen Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Barstow lost, one person who can't be blamed is Johntae Drisdom. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Drisdom hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Quesey Gaoa was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.

Silver Valley pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Barstow, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against PAL Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 8th. Barstow is on the road again on Monday and play against Burroughs at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th.
