Basketball Recap: Pine Forest Comes Up Short

Pine Forest and Southeast Raleigh squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pine Forest had to settle for second. They were dealt a 63-21 loss at the hands of the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 36th).

When it comes to explaining why Pine Forest lost, don't look at Jaliyah Carter. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Southeast Raleigh's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but A'Ziyah Trent led the charge by shooting 71% from the field en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals. What's more, Trent posted three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dariyah Harris, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 10 points.

Pine Forest is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14. As for Southeast Raleigh, their victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-2.

Pine Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southeast Raleigh, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-51 defeat against Rolesville on the 28th.
