Recap: Florin Panthers vs. Johnson Warriors
The Florin Panthers fell victim to the Johnson Warriors''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Warriors, falling 47-0. Florin has struggled against Johnson recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Chase Xiong threw for 42 yards on six of 16 attempts. Turbo Yang was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Guile Cha rushed for 39 yards.
Johnson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamarea Smith, who threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Kirk Brown III, who gained 142 total yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Florin to a paltry 97 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Johnson's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Chad Whitehead and Gabe Castro who racked up four sacks between them.
Florin's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Florin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Johnson is also done with their season.
