Basketball Recap: Alexis Ellis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Taylor's Crossing over Sho-Ban

If Taylor's Crossing was feeling good fresh off their 41-17 takedown of American Heritage last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Taylor's Crossing Eagles took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sho-Ban Chiefs on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Taylor's Crossing's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Ellis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Ellis also grabbed eight steals, which is notable because Taylor's Crossing is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Reagan Smith, who posted eight points in addition to nine steals and six boards.

Even though they lost, Taylor's Crossing smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Taylor's Crossing's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Sho-Ban, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Taylor's Crossing will square off against North Gem at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor's Crossing is facing North Gem at the right time seeing as North Gem is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Sho-Ban, they are taking a road trip to take on Rockland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
