The Livermore Cowboys will venture away from home to take on the Carondelet Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Livermore comes in on three and Carondelet on five.
Livermore can't be too worried about heading out to take on Carondelet: they just beat Granada at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Cowboys walked away with a 4-1 win over the Matadors on Thursday.
Kaci Norton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianna Willes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Sydney Aguilar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Carondelet came out on top against California on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 9-2 victory. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Maia Scholtens tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Norie Umene was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Arielle Henriquez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Livermore's record now sits at 16-8. As for Carondelet, their record is now 13-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Livermore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Carondelet struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Livermore skirted past Carondelet 9-8 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cowboys since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
