Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coventry Comets on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won three in a row.

David Thurston was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Justus Pence also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-13. As for Coventry, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, Springfield will welcome Mogadore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Coventry, they will head out to face off against Chippewa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
