Baseball Recap: Bloomington South Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bloomington South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Columbus East Olympians 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Olympians since April 30, 2022.

Connor Couch tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bloomington South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Surdam, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Keagan Palileo was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The win was the seventh in a row for Bloomington South, bringing their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
