Softball Recap: North Augusta's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Augusta took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lexington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellow Jackets won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted since March 8th.

Eleanor Brummond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, North Augusta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Geddes, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for North Augusta, bringing their record up to 12-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 18-3 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Augusta will host Strom Thurmond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
