Baseball Recap: Corvian Community Starts Season with Victory Against Queen's Grant

Corvian Community gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past the Queen's Grant Stallions 19-2. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Gavin McElhinny made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Keldyn Vincent was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brennan Frey, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Corvian Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Queen's Grant only posted an OBP of .227.

Corvian Community has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 loss against Metrolina Christian Academy on the 25th. As for Queen's Grant, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-3 defeat against Union Preparatory on the 28th.
