Basketball Recap: Cameron Pente Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Johnson Central

Betsy Layne hadn't done well against Johnson Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Betsy Layne Bobcats managed a 91-85 victory over the Johnson Central Golden Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Betsy Layne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Pente, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points and five assists. Brayden Hall was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and seven assists.

Betsy Layne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Johnson Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Rose, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Slone, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and seven assists.

Betsy Layne's record is now 2-0.

Betsy Layne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-71 defeat against Lawrence County on the 6th. As for Johnson Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-54 loss against Shelby Valley on the 11th.
