Davis' loss ends seven-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Davis Darts vs. Layton Lancers

On Tuesday, the Davis Darts faced the Layton Lancers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Davis fell just short of Layton by a score of 73-71. Davis' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Davis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Fisher, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ike Morgan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.

Layton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was David Katoa out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. KJ Miller was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.

Davis' loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for Layton, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will challenge Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davis is facing Syracuse at the right time seeing as Syracuse is stuck on a eight-game losing streak. As for Layton, they will head out on the road to square off against Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Layton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,494 points over their last 20 matches.
