Soccer Game Preview: Bennett vs. Englewood

The Bennett Tigers will head out to square off against the Englewood Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

It was a proper cat-fight when Bennett duked it out with Lake County on Friday. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Panthers. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Bennett couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Englewood entered their tilt with Arvada on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout. Englewood's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven contests.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Selle Strawbridge, who's now up to 16 this season.

Englewood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Bennett, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Bennett came out on top in a nail-biter against Englewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
