Recap: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Champaign Central Maroons
This season hasn't been kind to the Bloomington Purple Raiders, who are still winless after their 20th match. They had to suffer through a rough 72-34 loss at the hands of Champaign Central. While losing is never fun, Bloomington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Maroons are ranked 214th).
Despite the loss, Bloomington still got an impressive performance from Robert Clark, Jr, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Aidyn Beck went supernova for Champaign Central, almost dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beck has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chris Bush, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Bloomington dropped their record down to 0-20 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Champaign Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington will take on the Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Peoria Notre Dame is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Champaign Central, they will head out on the road to take on the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
