Basketball Recap: Monroe Extends Winning Streak to Three

Monroe lost to Marysville Getchell back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Monroe Bearcats walked away with a 52-39 win over Marysville Getchell. The victory was familiar territory for the Bearcats who have now won three contests in a row.

Marysville Getchell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arion Palacol, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The game was Palacol's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariano Palacol, who posted eight points.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Marysville Getchell, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Monroe Bearcats take on the Snohomish Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe is facing Snohomish at the right time seeing as Snohomish is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Marysville Getchell, they will venture away from home to square off against Everett at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Marysville Getchell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.
