Delsea has gone a perfect 7-0 against Timber Creek Regional recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Crusaders will head out to square off against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Delsea will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
If Delsea beats Timber Creek Regional with 12 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Gloucester Catholic on Friday. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Timber Creek Regional). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Highland Regional on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Chargers with their most commanding win of the season.
Joselyn Bermudez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Bermudez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kara Simpson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Beasley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Timber Creek Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Delsea's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Timber Creek Regional, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Everything went Delsea's way against Timber Creek Regional when the teams last played back in April, as Delsea made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
