Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against South El Monte on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of South El Monte by a score of 6-5. Marshall has struggled against South El Monte recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Elijah Lain was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Trevor Lain was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Marshall's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3-1. As for South El Monte, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
