Basketball Recap: Garland Comes Up Short

Garland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 61-46 to the Rowlett Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 87-42 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Garland lost, don't look at Caleb Ibeneme. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 13 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Ibeneme a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Warren, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points.

Rowlett was led to victory by Cadarian Urune and Bryson Mcmanigell. Urune went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points and five boards, while Mcmanigell posted ten points and three steals. The match was Urune's third in a row with at least ten points. Leeland Douglas was another key player, putting up eight points.

Garland's record now sits at 1-15. As for Rowlett, their record now sits at 10-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Wylie the next time they take the court. Rowlett will host Wylie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Garland will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
