Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Owosso

Owosso had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Ovid-Elsie Marauders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 back in April.

Blake Binger tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eden Ackley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cyril Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Owosso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive games.

Owosso pushed their record up to 21-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Ovid-Elsie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Owosso will take on New Lothrop at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ovid-Elsie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
