Softball Game Preview: West Florida Jaguars vs. Tate Aggies

The West Florida Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Tate Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, West Florida got the win against Elberta by a conclusive 8-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Meanwhile, Tate hadn't done well against Niceville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Aggies never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Jordan Smith, who gave up just three hits to keep Niceville off the board. Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mykamia Padgett, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Madison Smillie also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

West Florida's record now sits at 9-6. As for Tate, their record is now 4-8.

West Florida skirted past Tate 8-7 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
