Flag Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Dayanna Martinez and Jaleiyah Ray Leads Lathrop over Johansen

If Johansen wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lathrop, they should've done a better job of containing JaLeiyah Ray. The Spartans came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 30-18 on Monday thanks in part to Ray, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one score. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making two total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Lathrop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dayanna Martinez and Ray. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as she's now made five or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Lathrop's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Johansen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lathrop will host Livingston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Johansen, they will face off against Central Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
