Basketball Recap: Hinkley Drops Season-High Score on Gateway

Hinkley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Gateway Olympians, falling 50-25. One positive for the Thunder, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Hinkley's loss came despite strong showings from Alexsandra Ortiz Hernandez and Amelia Morlan. Ortiz Hernandez posted five points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Morlan earned five points. Those five points gave Morlan a new career-high.

Hinkley's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Gateway, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hinkley will square off against Thornton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gateway, they will host Adams City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
