Softball Recap: Kirtland Central Broncos vs. Gallup Bengals

After flying high against Shiprock last Tuesday, Kirtland Central came back down to earth. The Broncos fell just short of the Gallup Bengals by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 12-0 to the Bengals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Easton Myhers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Hurtado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Kirtland Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Gallup, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7.

Coming up, Kirtland Central will challenge Miyamura at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gallup, they will take on Chinle at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.46 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
