Softball Recap: Providence Day Chargers vs. Covenant Day Lions
Providence Day had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it four. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Covenant Day Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 two weeks ago.

Rachel Lyons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Maddie Chilcote and Audrey Glosson stepped up to the plate in a big way. As for Covenant Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Covenant Day's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Alison Vandiver gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Houseton, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.
