Basketball Recap: Santa Ynez's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Santa Ynez won the last time they faced Bishop Diego, and Jude Pritchard did his part to make sure it happened again. The Santa Ynez Pirates took down the Bishop Diego Cardinals 86-69 on Wednesday thanks in part to Pritchard, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten boards. Those 33 points gave him a new career-high.

Ikenna Ofiaeli was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Diego saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Crew Sjovold went 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Krautmann, who posted 14 points and six steals.

Santa Ynez's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0. As for Bishop Diego, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Santa Ynez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-47 victory against Eastside on the 30th. As for Bishop Diego, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-58 win against Orcutt Academy on the 3rd.
