Soccer Game Preview: Silsbee vs. Little Cypress-Mauriceville

The Silsbee Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silsbee will be strutting in after a win while Little Cypress-Mauriceville will be coming in after a loss.

Silsbee is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Hardin-Jefferson a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

They hit Hardin-Jefferson with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Michael Gutierrez (2), Jeremiah Read (2), and Trevor Garoutte.

Meanwhile, Little Cypress-Mauriceville fell victim to Jasper and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 735th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 322nd).

Silsbee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Silsbee suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Little Cypress-Mauriceville when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Silsbee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
