Baseball Recap: Terry Sanford Triumphs

Terry Sanford won the last time they faced Harnett Central and things went their way on Tuesday too. Terry Sanford had just enough and edged out Harnett Central 7-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 31, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Josh Mozingo was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Terry Sanford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Terry Sanford got a great performance from Jonathan Pate as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Pate has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Mason Walker was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Terry Sanford's record now sits at 8-3. As for Harnett Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Harnett Central will square off against North Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harnett Central will need to watch out since North Johnston has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
