Basketball Game Preview: Yelm Tornados vs. Spanaway Lake Sentinels

Yelm hasn't had much luck against Spanaway Lake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Yelm Tornados will venture away from home to square off against the Spanaway Lake Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Yelm is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game on Wednesday. They fell 57-49 to Bethel.

Meanwhile, Spanaway Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Graham-Kapowsin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (55), the Sentinels still had to take the loss.

Yelm's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Spanaway Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Yelm couldn't quite finish off Spanaway Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 55-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Spanaway Lake's Darius Alexander, who posted 24 points and three steals. Now that Yelm knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
