Soccer Recap: Odyssey Institute Takes a Loss

After soaring to four goals the game before, Odyssey Institute was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Minotaur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 45th).

Odyssey Institute's goal came courtesy of Jan Gedlek, who's now up to seven this season.

Odyssey Institute's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8-1. As for Yuma Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Odyssey Institute has already played their next contest (against Kingman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Yuma Catholic will head out to square off against River Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. River Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight defeats, while Yuma Catholic will come in with four straight victories.
