After flying high against Marysville Getchell last Friday, Ferndale came back down to earth. The Golden Eagles fell 42-33 to the Mount Vernon Bulldogs on Thursday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Ferndale's loss came despite strong showings from Chandler Hansen and Brock Heuck. Hansen threw for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Heuck rushed for 52 yards and two TDs on only six carries.

Kaiden Anderson was nothing short of spectacular for Mount Vernon: he threw for 229 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes. Max Gunter handled things on the ground, rushing for 107 yards.

Ferndale's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Mount Vernon, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
