Baseball Recap: Las Cruces Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Las Cruces waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Valley Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-7 on Saturday.

Joaquin Pfeiffer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrian Whitman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Isaac Gomez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Las Cruces' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Las Cruces will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Da Vinci at 2:30 p.m. on March 20th. As for Valley, they will welcome St. Pius X at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
