Volleyball Recap: Plainview's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Plainview took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Crofton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won five contests in a row.

Plainview wouldn't go down easily and took Crofton into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 20-25, 16-14.

Leading Plainview to victory were Emma Sauser and Kenzie Doerr. Sauser had 13 digs and two assists, while Doerr had 11 kills and ten digs. That's the most digs Sauser has posted since back in September.

Plainview was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Crofton lost, don't look at Karoline Schendt. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and two aces.

Plainview's record is now 13-5. As for Crofton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Plainview will head out on the road to square off against Lutheran-Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crofton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
