Basketball Recap: Fortune Early College Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Aspire Langston Hughes Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Fortune Early College, they should've done a better job of containing Mekhi Tanner. The Fortune Early College Panthers claimed a resounding 79-28 victory over the Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Titans thanks in part to Tanner, who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cledale Graham, who scored 12 points and seven boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The win made it two in a row for Fortune Early College and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Fortune Early College Panthers duke it out with the Center Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elite at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
