Softball Recap: Athens Falls Short of Pell City in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Athens can now relate to. They fell 12-8 to the Pell City Panthers on Thursday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 32-17. As for Pell City, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-14-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Athens beat the Panthers by a score of 12-8 later that day.
