Basketball Recap: Hammond Makes It 13 in a Row on the Road

Hammond came into Monday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 40-35 W over the Arundel Wildcats on Monday. Given the Golden Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Wildcats are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Monroe, who posted eight points and ten boards. Monroe has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Saffiya Carson, who put up six points and seven steals.

Hammond pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Arundel, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Hammond will square off against Glenelg on Friday. Arundel has already played their next contest (against Crofton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
