Basketball Recap: Custer County Comes Up Short

Custer County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 31-15 bruising from the Cotopaxi Pirates. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Hayden Eggleston was her usual excellent self, putting up 15 points and five steals for Cotopaxi. That makes it six consecutive games in which Eggleston has scored at least a third of Cotopaxi's points. Kelsey Teter was another key player, scoring six points along with 12 boards and four blocks.

Custer County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Cotopaxi, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Custer County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cotopaxi, they will challenge Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotopaxi's defense has only allowed 24.2 points per game this season, so Springfield's offense will have their work cut out for them.
