Basketball Recap: New Covenant School Comes Up Short

New Covenant School has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a blow against Hampton Park Christian on Friday, falling 65-36. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-34 back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, New Covenant School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Luke Fulmer went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and four steals. That was a full 38.9% of New Covenant School's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Aidan Smith was another key player, putting up eight points.

Trevor Gearhart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hampton Park Christian, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brody Miller, who scored ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.

New Covenant School's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Hampton Park Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

New Covenant School has already played their next game, a 45-27 win against Oakwood Christian on the 21st. As for Hampton Park Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 76-41 victory against Lake Pointe Academy on the 23rd.
