Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Owen J. Roberts' Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Owen J. Roberts hadn't done well against Spring-Ford recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Rams 15-3. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Maddie Reed made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Gracelyn Przborowski was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Liza Flavin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Owen J. Roberts kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Owen J. Roberts has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Spring-Ford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen J. Roberts will take on Avon Grove at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Spring-Ford, they will face off against Upper Perkiomen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
