Daingerfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Jefferson Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Daingerfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Pewitt with a sharp 80-56 win. That 80-56 margin sets a new team best for Daingerfield this season.
Jefferson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 24 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 81-50 victory over Big Sandy. Given Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Big Sandy is ranked 1124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Daingerfield's win bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Jefferson, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Daingerfield ended up a good deal behind Jefferson when the teams last played on December 12th, losing 60-41. Can Daingerfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
