Softball Recap: Liberty Lions vs. College Park Falcons

Liberty's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to San Ramon Valley on Thursday. The Liberty Lions came out on top against the College Park Falcons by a score of 7-4. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Kate Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kelsie Skaggs was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Rice, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as College Park struck out 12 times.

Liberty now has a winning record of 3-2. As for College Park, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Castro Valley at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st. College Park also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Cardinal Newman at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st.
