Basketball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage lost against Knightdale back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Heritage Huskies came up short against the Knightdale Knights, falling 51-30. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Knights are ranked 96th).

Knightdale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayomide Adewumi, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Adewumi now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Leia Rios, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Heritage now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Knightdale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will square off against Rolesville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Rolesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season. As for Knightdale, they will take on Wakefield at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Knightdale surely won't give up without a fight.
