Baseball Recap: Nashua North Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Nashua North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Nashua South Purple Panthers by a score of 7-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Nolan Sullivan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Eric McInnis looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nashua North is 3-1 when McInnis allows two or fewer hits, but 3-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on James Markley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Austin Suchecki, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Nashua North's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Nashua South, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Nashua North will challenge rival Keene at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Blackbirds a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. Nashua South is set to square off against their familiar foe Timberlane at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
