Baseball Game Preview: North Shore Country Day Raiders vs. Lake Forest Academy Caxys

For the second straight game, North Shore Country Day will face off against Lake Forest Academy. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caxys at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when North Shore Country Day and Lake Forest Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Caxys with a sharp 19-5 win. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Caxys recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Gerald Kalotis made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Reed Metzler was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Berlin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

North Shore Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

North Shore Country Day's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lake Forest Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Shore Country Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Forest Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
